On Wednesday 18th December 2013, Madula (An African Drumming group) came into school to work with KS3 gifted and talented musicians, and years 10 and 11 GCSE Music students.
Each group had an hours workshop where they were immersed in African rhythms and collective singing. All pupils were pushed to their limits, performing intricate and complex rhythms, both as an ensemble and solo, and and all found the workshop fun and enjoyable.
Their hard work was put to the test on Friday 20th December in a performance to the Audley LAP group, this involved pupils from Richard Heathcote Primary who were part of the initial workshops too.
The members of the Audley committee thoroughly enjoyed the afternoons’ performance and asked if they could also take part next time and join in. We look forward to working with Madula again in the future.
