Liz Makes Cake for 90th Birthday
Posted: January 17th, 2014
When the local Audley LAP group came into school for a musical performance and a lunchtime buffet in December, one of the visitors mentioned she would be celebrating her 90th Birthday between Christmas and New Year. On the day, she had commented that she loved the Lemon Drizzle Cake and we said we would make her one in January, as a late birthday cake!
Liz Higginson who is a Year 10 student made the cake during one of her Food lessons and delivered the cake to Mrs Chesters that afternoon. Mrs Chesters was overwhelmed and was so grateful for the cake. Miss Daragheh, Head of Food & Catering commented ‘Liz is a star in the kitchen, she is so organised, creative and is a great cook. This morning she spent three hours making the cake, ensuring the syrup drizzle soaked through the sponge and she took great care in the presentation. Mrs Chesters was so appreciative. Our students really do enjoy making a difference and going that extra mile for others. Liz was so excited to make the cake for Mrs Chesters and they had a good natter about cakes and baking!
