School Games Finals at Rowley Park, Stafford
Posted: March 5th, 2014
The u14 girls football team played in the School Games Finals at Rowley Park, Stafford on Wednesday 5th March representing Newcastle under Lyme. They had won the District title by not losing a game and were keen to show their talents against the rest of the county. The format on the day changed and games were just 8 minutes one way, which did not allow for many goal scoring chances. In the first game against King Edward VI, the team drew 0-0 and then lost the second game 1-0 to Kingsmead. A win was needed for the 3rd and final game. Emma Hancock scored a brilliant individual goal and with 30 seconds to go, we had one foot in the semi finals. However De Ferrers equalised which meant the game finished 1-1 and all hopes of reaching the finals were dashed.
Well done to the team for reaching the School Games finals – they looked the smartest team in their new Audley Rotary sponsored kit.
