For the fifth consecutive year, the English Department arranged a visit to Shakespeare country – Stratford-upon-Avon – this November. The majority of Year Eight pupils participated in the outing. Thanks, in part, to the dry, autumnal weather, the trip was informative and enjoyable for all participants.
This year, we visited Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Hall’s Croft. Pupils appreciated an opportunity to view the properties/ gardens and enhanced their knowledge of life during the Tudor period. They were particularly thrilled to have a learning opportunity beyond the traditional classroom context; sharing the experience with their friends seemed to be valued by all. Hopefully, Year Eight’s love of English was enhanced by the trip. Thank you to all who took part and represented the school so admirably.
