Key Stage 4 overview

Pupils follow a two-year curriculum, which is designed to equip them with the skills necessary to achieve their full potential in their GCSEs. At the end of KS4, pupils will sit the EDUQAS (Year 11 2020 onwards). A copy of the specification is available to download from the EDUQAS website.

The course has three elements; appraising (listening), performing and composing. Each element is explored throughout the course, allowing the pupil’s own interest and musical style to be the basis for this work.

All pupils taking this course should already be skilled in playing an instrument or using their voice and therefore will be encouraged to have further lessons in their chosen instrument. These can be provided through the School, or taken privately.

Music intervention is held on Tuesday evenings from 3.15-4pm.

Various extra curricular opportunities are offered to pupils to stretch our gifted and talented pupils, and to offer invaluable opportunities for pupils to perform in front of an audience:

  • Young Voices
  • UET Carol Concert
  • Keele University Degree Performance Recitals
  • The Celebration of Music
  • The UET Performing Arts Showcase
  • Awards Evening
  • Open Evening
  • Whole School assemblies
  • Audley LAP Christmas Lunch
  • Pop Up Restaurant
