About Our Governors

Liz Myatt

I am extremely proud to be a parent governor at Sir Thomas Boughey Academy, with my youngest child a current pupil and my eldest an alumnus who has now progressed to a local sixth form to pursue A-Level studies.

I have worked in the apprenticeship arena for over 20 years, currently employed by Staffordshire University as Apprenticeships Quality Manager, reflecting my passion for championing parity between academic and vocational routes to life-wide learning and work. Via a vocational route, I am a qualified careers guidance practitioner and post-16 teacher, with vast experience in curriculum and quality management and enhancement.

My specialist link governor roles are within safeguarding and mental health, and careers education, both close to my heart. I am a great believer in being the change you wish to see for your own children and their children to come, and in that I am committed to supporting and challenging our senior leaders so together we can make a positive difference to our children and community.

Maggie Evans

An experienced English teacher, examiner, and latterly secondary school principal in Chester, I am now retired and living in Nantwich. I have taught extensively in both the maintained and independent sectors in London, the Midlands, and the Northwest, and sat on governing bodies as a parent, a teacher, a community representative and as a head in Leicestershire, Oxford, Birmingham and Chester. I believe passionately in the power of education to transform lives and have a keen particular interest in the performing arts as a medium for enabling young people to flourish and achieve their potential.

Fiona Norfolk

I am the Managing Director at Portion Solutions Limited, a food packing company in the West Midlands, and am experienced at leading organisations through periods of transformation by providing strategic direction and clear communication.  I have a BSc (Hons) Social Policy from the London School of Economics (LSE) and I am a fellow (FCMA) of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). I started my career as an accountant and progressed to Finance Director and then to Managing Director. I am also a Parish Councillor in my village and an Enterprise Adviser for The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership, helping to bridge the gap between education and the workplace.

Ian Turner

I have been a governor for four years and vice chair of governors for the last two years.  I have previously been a volunteer in youth sector for nearly 25 years.  I have considerable experience in both the private and public sector at a senior management level and always strive to bring my knowledge and experience into the strategic governance process at STBA.

Donna Wilcox

I’m a wife and mother of four children aged between 12 and 18 who are either currently attending Sir Thomas Boughey or have gone through the school and are now studying at Newcastle College.  I have been involved in our local community for many years, previously running several local church playgroups, volunteering at a local primary school, serving on various church committees, some of which I am still involved with, as well as being a school governor for over 10 years which has given me various and vast experience in this role.  I have been very privileged to be the chair of governors at a local primary school and chair of governors here at Sir Thomas Boughey.  I am currently employed by the local churches as benefice administrator.

Craig Barker

As a Sir Thomas Boughey alumnus, I am incredibly proud to be a governor and help the school in any way possible.  I have worked in education for over 15 years as a PE teacher, Middle Leader, Senior Leader and I am currently an Executive Headteacher of a group of Independent Special Schools.

SEND provision in schools is something that I am very passionate about and Sir Thomas Boughey’s ethos and values of inclusion are very much aligned with my ethos and values.

I am a great believer that education is at the heart of a great society I am privileged to be a governor at Sir Thomas Boughey Academy.
