Awards Evening 2013

Posted: November 25th, 2013

We celebrated our annual awards evening on the evening of Thursday 21/11/2013. Over 600 current pupils, ex students, parents, staff, invited guests and Governors came together to recognise and celebrate the success of pupils past and present. Our guest of honour for the evening was Mr Andy Topham, father of three, firefighter, ex-marine, charity fund raiser and ex-pupil of our school.

The evening started with awards for 100% attendance for the year, this category is open to all pupils, and we were proud to recognise the achievement of – pupils who have achieved the magic 100%. We also awarded – ex pupils with awards for 100% attendance for all 5 years of their time at Sir Thomas Boughey. An exceptional achievement that can only help them in the increasingly competitive world of college and employment.

We then moved to subject and progress awards across the curriculum and key stages. Many pupils were nominated for each award, but there can only be one winner. Nomination is a recognition of the effort our pupils put into their education and receiving the award is the cherry on the cake. Deciding who the winner should be is a difficult job with so many outstanding pupils.

The next group of awards is for sporting achievements. We are a small school, but we have a big reputation and win many games, tournaments and leagues. We are recognised as “giant killers.”

Finally after several musical items we conclude with awarding the Year 11 of Summer 2013 with the academic qualification certificates they have gained over their time at Sir Thomas Boughey. These are their tickets to the future and have already enabled them to access the next stage of their education and life.

Thank you to all that attended the evening and remember every pupil at the school has an open invitation to be there next year, they just have to earn their place, by attendance, effort, progress and achievement.

If you were not able to attend the evening, you can view an electronic copy of the Awards Booklet.
