Posted: March 20th, 2014

The under 13 girls football team were back in action at Powerleague last week, in a 6 a side competition run by Stoke City. There were 4 leagues of competition, so only the top team would go through from each league into the semi- finals.

STB played Winsor Park first and Emma Hancock scored from the penalty spot to take the lead 1 – 0. STB dominated play, but could not add to their total. Final score 1 – 0.

In the second game, STB played Clayton and knew it would be a tough game. Clayton dominated the play early on, but goalkeeper Megan Jones made a couple of great saves. Clayton finally made their pressure count and scored twice in quick succession. Emma Hancock pulled one back for STB and the team had a couple of good chances, but ran out of time. Final score 1-2.

In the third game, STB dominated St John Fisher throughout and Emma Hancock again was the difference, with 2 well taken goals. Final score 2 – 0.

The fourth game was against Congleton High School. The team knew that they had to win the game and hope Clayton had suffered a defeat. Emma Hancock again was rampant with her right foot and scored 4 times. Final score 4 – 0.

Despite only losing one game, STB were knocked out of the competition and Clayton went on to win the final. Well done to the team for playing in a great sporting manner.
