Junior Football Leaders Festival 2014

On Friday 20th June, the year 9 and 10 football leaders ran a primary school year 5 competition in scorching heat. This was the culmination of a number of coaching sessions delivered in the primary schools by the leaders prior to the event. Members of primary staff commented on the maturity of our leaders and their support when officiating the matches.

Well done to:

Year 9 leaders: Aaron Dodd, Jamie Cooper, Ryan Moss, Harry Moss, Joe Pattinson and Alex Hollins.

Year 10 leaders: Meg Hall, Beth Askey, Caitlin Phillips, Josh Fox, Thomas Mason, Thomas Jones, Korrie Biddulph, Liam Curley, Matt Colley.

Year 11 referee: Ben Green.

22 teams in total took part in the football festival from 4 schools – St Chads, Richard Heathcote, Ravensmead and Wood Lane. Five teams took part in a seven-a-side competitive league and 17 teams took part in three separate five-a-side leagues. All pupils took part with excellent sporting attitudes but 20 were selected for their endeavour and fair play over the three hours. They were presented with prizes including England flags, banners, sunglasses and hats.
