The U16 Girls have now played their first three league fixtures.

The first match was against Wolstanton High School who had a particularly athletic Goal Defence. However, she could not stop the STB duo of Abbie-Mae Rathbone and Grace Machin from converting no matter how high she jumped. Sir Thomas Boughey took the game comfortably, 19-10. Woman of the match was Abbi Roberts, who worked tirelessly at Goal Defence and managed to gain several turnovers for the team.

Next, they faced Newcastle Community High School. These were quite a tall team but they were unable to cope with the STB standard of play at all. STB took the game 19-1 even though each half only lasted 10 minutes. Woman of the match was Abbie-Rathbone, who did not miss a shot.

The most recent fixture was at home against Madeley High School. This was an inexperienced opposition, consisting mainly of year 10 players, therefore several of the STB girls played out of position to try to even things up. STB still managed to achieve a somewhat embarrassing, 37-1 victory. Woman of the match was Grace Machin, who played superbly at both ‘Goal Shooter’ and ‘Centre’.

Congratulations to all squad members on an excellent start to the league. Here’s hoping they bring the trophy home for the 10th Year in a row!
