STB Christmas Fayre 2015

Posted: November 26th, 2015

Christmas came early to Sir Thomas Boughey High school and on 7th November there was an abundance of tinsel, baubles, carols and Christmas spirit evident in the hall. Father Christmas held court in his Santa’s Grotto and over 50 children shared with him their wishes for a wonderful Christmas. Thomas Finney was our sound man for the day and Christmas Carols certainly added to the ambience of the afternoon.

The variety of stalls was amazing and the event was supported by tutor groups, subjects, community groups and charities. Many of the groups were raising money to fill shoe boxes for the Operation Christmas Child and the Salvation Army Toy Appeal charity fundraising initiatives. The choice of Christmas gifts certainly encouraged us all to begin our Christmas shopping early and many gifts were purchased ready for the big day!

The highlight of the afternoon was a display by the Porthill Scout Group with their drumming corps. Their performance was simply sensational. The talent on the stage was awesome and their routine was extra special this year with the addition of some dance type movements. We were all enthralled with the whole performance and appreciated the group coming to entertain us all.
The afternoon was a festive feast of fun. Afternoon tea was served by our wonderful volunteers in the Christmas Café. Cream teas were the order of the day with scones and cream, jam and fresh strawberries (in November!).

It was a real treat for us all. We also had community bingo with our bingo caller Mrs Goodwin and the Christmas raffle was organised by year 11 pupils fundraising for the charity Peru trip in 2016.

Thank you to all for making the Christmas Fayre one to remember. We can’t wait for next year!
