3 STB teams took part in the Newcastle District Futsal competition, which is a 5 a side football competition, held at Keele University on December 14th.

Year 7:

Year 7 played in the morning and played 6 games. They lost to St John Fisher 3-1 but then beat Madeley A team 2-0. They then drew 0-0 against both Chesterton and Newcastle Academy, before drawing 2-2 with Madeley B team. In their final game they drew 0-0 with Clayton.
Overall the Year 7 team finished 4th having lost only 1 game to the eventual winners. Grace Roberts scored a total of 4 goals and Lydia Litchfield 1 goal.

Well done to:

Grace Roberts, Lydia Litchfield, Sarah Moore, Jersey Day, Chloe Myatt, Ruby Hughes, Shannon McLoughlin.

Year 8:

In the afternoon, 2 Year 8 and 9 teams played in an STB A and B team. The STB A team played 4 games. They drew 0-0 against UAK, beat Madeley B 2-0 and lost to Chesterton 1-0. In the final game they drew 0-0 with Clayton. Summer Chamberlain and Brooke Phillips were the goal scorers. The STB B team had all Year 8 girls playing for experience for next year. Without a recognised goalkeeper, the girls lost all their games but Megan Jackson scored the goal of the tournament with a great assist from Lottie Carman and added two more goals to her total for the competition. Unfortunately neither team made the final, but played well together.
