On Friday 6th May 12 pupils took part in Staffordshire University’s Maths Mayhem event. The afternoon was held at Newcastle college and was run in conjunction with Staffordshire University trainee Maths teachers.
The event was aimed at the brightest maths pupils from Year 9 and Year 10 who worked in teams to compete against pupils from other schools including St John Fisher & Madeley.
Trainee maths teachers from Staffordshire University along with some of the A Level Maths pupils from Newcastle College ran fun and challenging maths activities.
The teams had a brilliant afternoon and worked incredibly well. Some of the challenges were extremely difficult, but pupils from Sir Thomas Boughey put in maximum effort. Unfortunately, our pupils just missed out on a prize, but should be very proud of themselves for showing an astounding understanding of maths.
