Charity Coffee Morning

Posted: October 6th, 2016

The cake sale in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care and the Douglas Macmillan Hospice was a huge success!

The display of cakes was fantastic, all sizes shapes, flavours, including coffee cake, millionaire shortbread, chocolate sponge and fairy cakes. Staff really supported the event and had clearly been busy perfecting their entries to the staff bake off. Mr Harridge was the winner with a strawberry sponge cake. There was also a pupil bake off and the winner was Summer Chamberlain, in Year 10 who made a fantastic chocolate sponge.

A special mention must also go to members of 7CW who baked more cakes than any other tutor group. In total the event raised £514 and as a school we thank everyone who baked, helped to serve or came to enjoy the cake. We look forward to organising a similar event next year.

Today we are holding our coffee morning in support of Macmillan Cancer Support and the Douglas Macmillan Hospice. Staff and pupils have baked and donated cakes and will be able to buy them at break and lunchtime in the conference room.

We have also had these two professionally made cakes donated and are auctioning them off to raise money for the charities.

If you would like to bid for them, then please send us a private Facebook message or phone reception. Bidding ends today (3rd October 2016) at 4.00pm.
