Electric Car Project 2017

Posted: May 25th, 2017

Progress on the Electric car project continues…

All the wheels are now made, as well as the chassis. These were made in carbon fibre using a process called vacuum bagging, which basically involves putting all the components inside a bag and sucking the air out.

Students are learning all about modern materials and methods of production. The front steering arrangement has now also been completed and is ready to be attached to the chassis – this incudes making kingpins and braking attachments. The space frame has also been welded together ready for attachment to the chassis.

We hope to have the vehicle now named ‘Reggie’ on all 4 wheels soon after half term.
