Message from the Principal

Posted: March 20th, 2020

As we are in the unprecedented situation of having to close our doors to the vast majority of our students today until further notice, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your families all the best over the coming weeks / months.

It’s at times like this when a community shows its strength – and we very much hope that the relationships we have all built within the school community provide some support and comfort through the coming weeks. We so look forward to the point that we can re-open and welcome our pupils, their parents, our teachers and all our staff back together.

Thank you for your words of support and encouragement this week: I cannot begin to explain the positive impact that they have had on morale. We are so fortunate to belong to such a close-knit, supportive community – and I have every confidence that this support will continue during this time of uncertainty.

I would also like to say a huge thank you to the amazing team of staff at Sir Thomas Boughey. This week, they have worked in extremely difficult circumstances and have absolutely gone above and beyond to support each other, our students, and our parents / carers.

We will of course continue to communicate with you throughout the period. As soon as we know more about government decisions regarding Year 11 GCSE Examinations this summer, we will get in touch. We will also be in touch early next week to provide arrangements for food for students who are entitled to a free school meal.

Please stay safe during the period of school closure. Remember we are still here for you. Staff will still be responding to emails so please don’t hesitate to get in touch, just as you would during a normal school day.

We hope to see all students back with us again soon – we will miss you. Just remember that just because we are not meeting face to face, it doesn’t mean you stop being part of our community.
Please look after each other. Be kind. Stay safe.

Mrs Hingley
